Nozzle & Appliance Testing
NFPA 1930 requires annual testing for your nozzles, piston intake valves, and other critical
fire ground appliances. This isn’t just a compliance issue—it’s a matter of performance
and safety. Our field data shows that nearly one in five nozzles has faulty flow rates or
mechanical defects, a problem especially common with automatic nozzles.
AHL has the specialized equipment and expertise to perform these crucial tests efficiently
and accurately. Using our state-of-the-art Draft Commander, we test your equipment with
clean, clear water, ensuring precise results. Our system also recycles thousands of gallons
of water during the process. We provide a comprehensive service covering nozzles, piston
intake valves, and any other appliance with a shut-off valve. To save you time and
streamline your maintenance schedule, we can conduct these tests in conjunction with
your annual pump and ground ladder testing.
Our Annual Testing Service Includes:
- Visual Inspection: A thorough inspection to identify any cracks, damage, or
mechanical issues. - Hydrostatic Test: Each appliance is tested to 300 PSI. This verifies that the shut-off
valve operates correctly under pressure and confirms the integrity of the body, ensuring
there are no cracks or leaks. - Flow Test: We flow-test every nozzle to verify its GPM flow rate and confirm proper
calibration. - Flow Test: We flow-test every nozzle to verify its GPM flow rate and confirm proper
calibration. - Bar-Coded Inventory Tags: Each piece of equipment is labeled with a durable, bar-
coded inventory tag for easy asset tracking. - Detailed Reports: You receive a professional report for each tested device, providing
clear documentation of the results for your records.
